Jesse Willesee Gets Interactive with Seven Hundred Photos

For the third year running, Jesse Willesee is presenting Sydney’s largest and most thrilling live art event, Seven Hundred Photos

For one night only, everyone from professional and amateur photographers, bloggers, and every day punters with cameras and iPhones, are invited en masse to walk from room to room, shooting the incredible live installations and models within, in a paparazzi frenzy of live art and fashion.  Then use these images on your blogs, sites, Instagrams, Pinterest ... anything you can think of!

7 Hotel rooms
7 Artists & Designers
7 Live Photo Shoots

The show involves
designers and artists taking over the hotel rooms
of Darlo bar in Sydney
and making them over into a live shoot.
The audience interacts by photographing the event
as it unfolds onto their iPhones, Polaroids ...

Features ... Phoenix Keating (who dressed Lady Gaga on her visit to Australia), Alex Goddard, Laurel and Hector Vintage, Estate of Mind, cult label We Were Warriors, artist Jesse Willesee, and many more. Don't forget music:  performances by Buzz Kull and New Brutalists will cap off the night!

The fun doesn't stop there:  you can also purchase some exclusive threads in the one night only Pop-Up fashion store and score one-off finds from Phoenix Keating, the designers of Estate of Mind and more ...

Jesse's last controversial exhibition - 22 Girls Smoking Weed - drew such large crowds it was eventually shut down by police. Don't miss this all-new installation - it's bound to be a crazy night!

An Exhibition by Jesse Willesee and Daniel Havas: 22 Girls Smoking Weed

In their first-ever collaboration, artist Jesse Willesee, of Seven Hundred Photos fame, and music video director Daniel Havas, have combined forces with 22 ‘beautiful, stylish babes’ to create a fun, intimate and thoroughly modern portrait of the enigmatic, fashionable and creative young women of their generation – all who happen to enjoy smoking weed ...

The resulting images are a tribute to those acts of ‘casual art’ and self-portraiture found on popular blogging sites like Tumblr. This show marks the first installment of Jesse Willesee’s ‘Tumblr Trilogy”, a series of exhibitions which explore those artistic, pop cultural and personal preoccupations, known as ‘trending topics”, of the ‘Tumblr generation’ – one of which, time and again, is the use and glamorization of marijuana.

Photographed and filmed entirely on iPhone, using fish-eye lenses and filters, the resulting film and collection of over 40 photographs is part of the emerging iPhone-ography movement which sees artists, filmmakers and photographers forgo traditional equipment and instead capture the world as they see it through modern gadgets.

The show will take over the expanse of the now-abandoned Dr Pong bar and transform it into a complete 22 Girls experience, with an exhibition featuring over 40 photographs, a large-scale video projection, as well as a live installation, music, a ‘pizza party’ and themed merchandise including tote bags and collector cards.
