Liria Pristine, Rebel With a Cause

Canadian-born knitwear designer Liria Pristine has been London-based for the last 6 years. While living in Geneva, Switzerland, her weekend trips to London inspired her to make the move to London as she discovered it's thriving music scene and rich cosmopolitan culture.

It was whilst she was in London that she discovered her love of textiles, colour and structure from her association with many artistic friends.

After graduating from the world renowned Central saint Martins Academy, Liria started working with musician Patrick Wolf and singer/songwriter Serafina Steer. Being a big fan of both, she found a strong connection between her creative designs and her love of music. She dressed Patrick Wolf for the DVD of his gigs at Shephers Bush Empire and is working with him on some styling for Harpist Serafina Steer.

Liria's restless spirit and exploring nature led her to do some work at Floreal Knitwear Ltd., the largest and oldest knitwear manufacturer in Mauritius Island. It was there that she received intense training throughout the company, participated in meetings for design projects, and was given the opportunity to design and produce a small in-house collection.

Liria Pristine's BA Collection from Central Saint Martins Academy went on to the CSM Press Show 2007 and was later commended by Hilary Alexander in the Telegraph and featured in i-D magazine, claiming her to be part of the 'new breed of wool-toting rebels'.

Several pieces from her collection were selected to be exhibited in Alexandra Palace as part of the Knitted Textile Student Awards.

Liria has worked for Bora Aksu, Reubecksen Yamanaka, and has done freelance work for Menswear designer Deryck Walker.

She has also been involved with fashion events put on at London's Hoston Boutique and Sketch Bar's The Parlour.

She has recently launched a beautifully crafted accessories label, PristineSmut, collaborating with a Jewellery designer to combine knitted structures and metalwork.

Hi everybody! I’m Brazilian and I love monitoring international brands trends like YSL, Chanel, Gucci. In common, beyond the glamour, the three produced fashion movies in recent seasons, Loved them because now you can see the trim of the clothes in motion. In Brazil, unfortunately the content of disclosure of the collection is still not yet widespread, but it already exists. The designer of the brides, Mariana Kuenerz is super sensitive and reminds me the great old classics of Hollywood. Worth a look: http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Z4kLAnGTGic&feature=channel_page
