The show involves
designers and artists taking over the hotel rooms
of Darlo bar in Sydney
and making them over into a live shoot.
The audience interacts by photographing the event
as it unfolds onto their iPhones, Polaroids ...

Features ... Phoenix Keating (who dressed Lady Gaga on her visit to Australia), Alex Goddard, Laurel and Hector Vintage, Estate of Mind, cult label We Were Warriors, artist Jesse Willesee, and many more. Don't forget music:  performances by Buzz Kull and New Brutalists will cap off the night!

Silvia Hillmann: FW12 Geometric Tendencies

With prints inspired by 1930s brooches and jewels from the turn of the century, Silvia Hillmann's Fall/Winter 2012 collection delivers. The collection plays with geometric colour blocking, its silhouette, a homage to the feminine 1930s era, and its fabrics consist of fine silks and soft wool jersey.

Silvia’s aesthetic is an eclectic hybrid that understands the physics of garments and thus allows forms to naturally evolve into designs that are both innovative and functional.

German-born fashion designer, Silvia Hillmann, travelled extensively before settling in New York. Hillmann has a degree in Fashion Design at London College of Fashion where her creative vision evolved while working for leather jeweller Edward Griffiths and fashion house Boudicca.

A few years ago, Hillmann's first womenswear label, Pepper + Pistol was a hit with editors and celebrities alike, and was also featured in the first ever issue of TFB magazine, The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum way back in August 2009! (You can see that collection on pages 30-37 here.)

While her Fall/Winter 2012 collection may have its foundations on a feminine aesthetic, the bold nature of design elements present attracts the confident woman not afraid to make a statement in her dress. It is visible to see that Hillmann understands how the feminine form works and how geometric features can enhance and compliment a woman's body. It will be an exciting wait to see what the Silvia Hillmann label will present for us in the coming seasons.
